In a remarkable display of community service and maternal healthcare support, more than 40 Rotary clubs and club First Ladies across Chennai District 3234 have joined hands for the RAW 2 (Rotary Action for Women 2) maternity kits distribution initiative. Thoughtfully curated by First Lady Rtn Usha Saraogi and implemented by the Women’s Health team led by Rtn Dr Susan Verghese and Rtn Suryanarayana Rao, Director CSH, they are targeting 1000 kits to be distributed in government hospitals during World Breastfeeding Week between 1st August to 5th August 2025.
These maternity kits will benefit antenatal and postnatal mothers, and much-needed equipment for these hospitals will also be donated from August 1–5, 2025, coinciding with World Breastfeeding Week.
The structured schedule planned is:
August 1st at RSRM, August 2nd at IOG and at ICH, August 3rd at KGH-ISO, August 4th at Shenoy Nagar PCHC, and August 5th at Adyar PCHC and a few other leading maternity hospitals in Chennai, ensuring maximum impact during this globally recognized period dedicated to promoting breastfeeding awareness and maternal health.
This effort brings many clubs together, each contributing significantly and also creating awareness, ensuring that maternity care reaches the most underprivileged.
