INDIA PROUDLY HOSTS FIBA BASKETBALL WORLD CUP QATAR 2027 ASIAN QUALIFIERS (WINDOW-1) IN CHENNAI!

India is proudly hosting an International Men’s Basketball Tournament – the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers (Window-1) at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on 30th November 2025. Organised by the Basketball Federation of India & Tamilnadu Basketball Association, Mr.Aadhav Arjuna – President BFI and Mr.Scott Flemming and Head Coach India.and others shared insights. Aadhav Arjuna, President BFI revealed that, “The Indian team has improved a lot due to the preparations. We are focussing on shooting and speed with training of international standards. We are also working at the grassroot level . Our ultimate goal is to reach the Olympics.”

Mr.Scott Flemming, Head Coach India said, “We are very proud of the Tamil Nadu players. We alongwith the Selection Committee pick the 12 who have the best chance of winning irrespective of who they are or where they are from. Basketball is growing and going to accelerate.”

Sixteen teams from Asia and Oceania will compete in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers across six windows. As hosts of the 2027 FIBA World Cup, Qatar is already qualified, in addition to the seven spots available through the Asian Qualifiers. Qatar will participate in both the First and Second Rounds but will automatically advance as hosts. India’s talented Senior Men’s National Basketball Team will proudly represent India and will face a tough international opponent – Saudi Arabia – on 30th November 2025. India has been placed in Group D, alongside Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Qatar.
