Happy New Year set to make a splash this Diwali!

Chennai, 3rd October. Giving the storyline of heists a new twist, one of the most anticipated movies this season, Happy New Year hits cinema screens this Diwali. Featuring an ensemble cast of Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah, the movie is expected to pack quite a punch this October, fusing a unique theme of a heist with a dance-musical. In Chennai at the invitation of Sri Palam Silk Sarees, the entire crew of the movie participated in an event which saw the stars unveil the official trailer of the movie for the first time in Chennai. Palam Silks, who were saree partners for Chennai Express, one of the highest grossing movies of 2013 starring the same lead pair of Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan last year, played host this time by inviting the entire cast of Happy New Year to be guests at their annual fashion show, Silkline.

“Its great to be back in Chennai. I’ve spent a fair bit of time in my childhood in Chennai and the love and affection shown by the city towards us the last time ensured that we had to include it as a stop in our promotional plans for Happy New Year”, remarked the leading lady of the movie, Deepika Padukone.

Also speaking on the occasion, the King Khan reiterated his love and respect for the film technicians Chennai has produced and with whom he has had the privilege of working with, including director Mani Rathnam, lens ace Ravi K Chandran and the Mozart of Madras, A.R. Rahman. Showcased at the event was a Happy New Year special silk saree and blouse which resembles the outfit as worn by Shah Rukh Khan in the promotional posters of the movie. “It is a tribute to the entire cast of the movie from all of us at Palam as we wait for the festival of lights and the most anticipated movie of the year to unveil a new season of prosperity for everyone this Diwali”, said a visibly delighted Jeyasree Ravi, owner of Palam Silks. The brand also unveiled its special Diwali collections – Palam Swirls, Palam Hues, Angarika Silk, Ornamental Silk and announced the return of the hugely popular, Corporate Pattu (silks) at the event.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, Happy New Year sees Farah Khan don the director’s hat once again with the Badshah of Bollywood after their previous successes together, Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na. Distributed by Yash Raj Films worldwide, the movie releases in India on October 24, 2014 in three different languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
