Sports Authority of India and Tamil Nadu Judo Association under the auspices of Judo Federation of India, are conducting this fourth version of South zone women khelo India premier league which carries cash prizes to students as incentives.
This current edition shall see close to 1500 fights played over the next 3 days by 800 girls from 6 south Zone states namely Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Pondicherry, Andra Pradesh, Telungana, Karnataka in 4 age categories vying for national medal honour in the finals to be held in Kerala.
12 to 15 years Sub Junior Weight Basic Division 9 types of competitions
16 to 17 years cadet weight basic division 8 types of competitions
18 to 20 years Junior Basic Weight Division 7 types of competitions
Over 21 years senior weight base division 7 types of competitions
This event is also to be seen as a launch pad for taking judo as a career for 70 new black belts to take the art to grass roots to not only teach judo but also impart the values of judo to form a empowered enabled society.
The president of Tamil Nadu Judo Association, R.Vijay said that thus tournament was dedicated to Netaji Subash Chandra bose , the Indian National Army , namely its women warriors and how judo shall be used to remind the future generations on how our forefathers struggled to get us this freedom and how we should develop our nation as the best in the world on this golden platform given to us.
This event is presided by the SAI representative Mr.Yogesh Dahadve , the Tamilnadu Judo association president Mr. Vijay Mohan Murali , it’s secretary Na.Murali and Naveen and the Judo Federation of India representated by Mr. Yatish bangera .
This Nobel women premier league concept called ASMITA conducted by SAI was inaugurated by Honorable Member of parliament Chennai North Shri Kalanidhi Veerasamy as guest of honour, Shrimati Ranjani Manian, Shri .Prashant Tiwari editor, the pioneer and legendary judo coach Tony Lee .
