About the Event
On August 22, 2025, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Defence, Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated Garuda Aerospace’s new Defence Drone Facility at Thalambur, Chennai. This milestone marks a significant step in advancing indigenous drone technology and strengthening India’s defence capabilities.
During the ceremony, five advanced UAV systems were unveiled, including:
- Avalanche Victim Drone – for high-altitude search & rescue
- Swarm Drone – for coordinated strike & surveillance
- Jawan Drone – frontline soldier support
- Canister Dropping Drone – rapid battlefield payload deployment
- Droni 2.0 – multipurpose UAV for defence & civilian use
The Minister also launched the Garuda Raksha Udaan 2025 Impact Book, announced a Defence Drone Lab in collaboration with 13 JAK Rifles, introduced a Free Remote Pilot Certification (RPC) Program for defence personnel, and unveiled GAR Vans – mobile drone deployment & support units. A special initiative was also introduced to provide free drone training programs for widows of fallen soldiers, reaffirming Garuda Aerospace’s strong social impact commitment.
