Led by the legendary Padma Shri Dr. Chef Damu, this third edition of Thalaivan Virunthu brings to the table a handpicked spread of his signature delicacies, from time-honoured heirloom recipes to long-lost dishes that only a true Thalaivan can revive.
Starting at Bazaar, Grand Chennai by GRT Hotels, diners can experience flavours soaked in nostalgia, cooked with tradition, and served with pride. The ten-day culinary festival celebrates Tamil cuisine in all its depth and diversity, brought to life by the country’s most beloved food ambassador.
The grand evening unfolded with a refreshing welcome drink, setting the tone for what was to come. At exactly 7:30 PM, the energy in the room surged as Padma Shri Chef Damu made his iconic entrance with a flash mob, and was greeted by applause and excitement. Chef Sheetharam Prasad, Corporate Executive Chef at GRT Hotels, welcomed Chef Damu on behalf of the hotel, celebrating his return to Bazaar and the revival of this beloved food festival. Guests were then treated to a live demonstration by Chef Damu, followed by an engaging interaction with the guests, and a lavish dinner featuring festival highlights.
