Mumbai, India – A landmark event was held in Mumbai to promote business opportunities between India and Finland, featuring prominent leaders from both nations. The event was led by Mr. Erik af Hallstrom, Consul General of Finland in Mumbai, who reaffirmed Finland’s commitment to deepening economic ties with India and the European Union (EU).
A key highlight of the event was the recognition of Mr. Ashruba Garad, Chairman of Yeshodeep Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, as the newly appointed India-EU Council Trade Commissioner. Mr. Garad’s contributions to global infrastructure development, spanning Mauritius, the Middle East, Africa, and now Europe, were celebrated. Mr. Erik af Hallstrom presented the official certificate of appointment to Mr. Garad, symbolizing the growing partnership between India and Finland in infrastructure innovation and development.
Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Economic Trade Organisation (IETO), delivered an insightful address, emphasizing the untapped potential in trade and investment between India and Finland. The event was also attended by Mr. Wali Kashvi, Vice President of IETO, along with leading industrialists, CEOs, and stakeholders from Mumbai’s business community.
In his speech, Mr. Hallstrom showcased Finland’s attractive investment ecosystem, citing key sectors such as clean energy, sustainable urban development, and advanced technology as significant opportunities for Indian businesses. He also highlighted the Invest in Finland initiative, which provides Indian enterprises a strategic entry point into the European Union through Finland.
Mr. Ashruba Garad expressed gratitude for his appointment and underscored the importance of India’s role in global infrastructure development. “This recognition reflects India’s growing presence in international markets and our ability to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions globally. I am honored to serve as a bridge between India and the EU,” he said.
